4 Simple Steps to Create Storyboards

Follow these steps to create professional storyboards, even if you're a complete beginner

1

Import Video

Drag and drop your video file onto the page, or click the file selector button. Supports MP4, WebM and other popular formats. After import, video preview appears on the left and storyboard preview on the right.

H.264 encoded MP4 files are recommended for best compatibility
Keep video files under 2GB for optimal performance
Videos are processed entirely locally, never uploaded to any server

Capture Frames

Play the video in the preview area, pause at your desired frame, and click the green 'Capture Current Frame' button. Switch to the 'Auto Capture' tab to set time intervals for batch capture.

Manual capture: ideal for precise key frame selection
Auto capture: set intervals (e.g., every 1 second) for batch capture
Enter specific timestamps to jump, or name frames for organization

Framzu supports most popular video formats including MP4 (H.264), WebM (VP8/VP9) and more. For best compatibility, we recommend H.264 encoded MP4 files. If your video won't play, try using a video converter to change the format.

No. Framzu is a pure frontend tool – all video processing happens locally in your browser. Your video files never leave your computer, fully protecting your privacy and copyright.

The exported ZIP contains: all storyboard images (JPG/PNG), CSV spreadsheet (with timestamps and descriptions), JSON structured data, and EDL timeline files (importable to editing software). Choose the format that works best for your workflow.

Framzu automatically saves your work progress to browser local storage. If your browser closes unexpectedly, you'll be prompted to restore your previous project when you return. We recommend using the 'Save Project' feature periodically for important work.

Yes, Framzu is completely free. All core features including video import, frame capture, storyboard layout, and export are available without any restrictions or hidden charges.

No registration or login required. Framzu works right in your browser – just open the page and start working. It's perfect for quick tasks without any signup hassle.

There's no hard limit on video length, but due to browser memory constraints, we recommend keeping individual videos under 30 minutes or 2GB. For longer videos, consider splitting them first. Processing time also depends on your computer's specifications.

This is usually due to incompatible video encoding. Browsers have limited support for H.265/HEVC codec. We recommend using tools like HandBrake to convert your video to H.264 encoded MP4 format before importing.

Framzu is primarily optimized for desktop browsers. While it can be accessed on mobile devices or tablets, the experience may not be as smooth due to screen size and touch interaction limitations. We recommend using a computer for the best experience.
